Maintaining and properly storing your makeup brushes is essential for their longevity and performance. Here are some tips:

Clean regularly: Regularly clean your makeup brushes to remove product buildup, dirt, and bacteria. Depending on how often you use them, aim to clean them every 1-2 weeks. You can use a gentle brush cleanser or a mild shampoo mixed with water. Gently swirl the bristles in the solution, rinse thoroughly, reshape, and let them air dry flat or with the bristles facing downward to avoid water seeping into the ferrule (the metal part holding the bristles).

Be gentle during cleaning: When cleaning your brushes, avoid harsh rubbing or pulling on the bristles as it can damage them. Instead, use gentle circular motions and rinse them under lukewarm water until the water runs clear.

Avoid soaking the brushes: It's important to avoid soaking the entire brush in water as it can weaken the glue that holds the bristles together. Only wet the bristles while cleaning and try to keep the water away from the ferrule.

Shape and reshape: After cleaning, reshape the bristles while they are damp. Gently squeeze out any excess water and reshape them to their original form. This will help maintain the shape and performance of the brush.

Dry properly: Proper drying is crucial to prevent mold or mildew growth. Lay your brushes flat or hang them upside down to dry. Avoid drying them upright, as water can seep into the ferrule and loosen the bristles.

Store in a clean and dry place: Store your makeup brushes in a clean and dry environment to prevent dust, dirt, and bacteria from accumulating on them. You can use a brush holder or organizer to keep them upright and separated to maintain their shape.

Avoid sharing: Just like with nail files and buffers, it's best to avoid sharing your makeup brushes to prevent the spread of bacteria or infections. If you do share them, make sure to clean and disinfect them thoroughly before and after use.

By following these maintenance tips, you can ensure that your makeup brushes stay clean, perform well, and last longer.
